Once in awhile, you visit a city that captivates your mind and steals your heart. We had visited Cape Town many years ago and had promised each other to return one day. That day came much sooner as we decided to embark on a 3 continent whirlwind tour with our newborn son Nathan. Upon landing in Cape Town, it took less than 2 minutes to realize why we fell in love with this magical city in the first place. It seems like Cape Town has just about everything for everyone wether you’re looking for adventure, for culture, for culinary experiences, for wine and arguably the best sunset to name few.
In our honest opinion, having traveled to over 40 countries, we can say that Cape Town’s beauty is unrivalled. We must have spent countless evenings watching the sun set over the Atlantic ocean from the many beaches in the city. Furthermore, the mother city, as it’s otherwise known, is a photographer’s playground. We were delighted when we were able to photograph Julie and Sky’s romantic sunset shoot. Julie and Sky had been living and working in Cape Town for several weeks and were also enamoured by this city’s beauty. This fun couple climbed rocks, crawled under boulders and danced along waves while needing very little direction from us. To this day, this shoot will go down as one of the easiest! Needless to say, it will be very incredibly tough to go back shooting engagement sessions in Toronto after having witness all these sunsets. Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could bring this incredible scenery and light with us back home?
Finally, we’d also like to thank Sarah from By Catalfo for providing us with the second dress seen in this session. It is a beautiful lace wrap dress that we carried with us all the way from Toronto to Cape Town.
